India Update

Day 27      Mumbai

I saw Simon get up at about 6.30am, I was still a bit sleepy but I decided to wake up a little bit to chat with him. I had a really good night sleep, it was actually one of the most comfortable nights so far. I felt really good. I had my breakfast of bourbons and sprite (yes even I think that's a bit gross). We sat on my bunk and listened to some music and chatted some more as we watched the train arrive into Mumbai (the last hour or so is all slowly through Mumbai) and we saw a fair few slums. After the fun of the sleeper train we exited into the most hideous humidity. It was disgusting, the most uncomfortable car journey of my life for over 1hr 30mins. I literally ran to the shower when we got to the hotel. We had lunch at the restaurant which was nice and then we chilled a bit before we started our orientation walk. We went to see the Mumbai docks where you can't take pictures anymore since the terrorist attack last year but it had the most vibrantly coloured boats. The smell was however hideous. NEVER buy fish that's come from India, they were preparing tonnes (and I mean the weight measurement) of fish on the dirty floor in the 40degree heat. The smell was unreal. We then went to see the gateway to India which was very cool. We walked past the Taj Mumbai before watching the sunset in the harbour. We then had dinner at Leopold Cafe which is very famous apparently. It was really good food.. However, you could see the bullet holes and shattered glass from the terrorist attacks there last year. Hmmm. BYE.x
