India Update

Day 23      Udaipur

Today we got up at 9am and had breakfast at the hotel, it was a buffet but it looked more like an Indian all you can eat dinner with the exception of toast and bananas so that's what I had. We went into the centre of Udaipur and went to see a miniature painting demonstration which the area is famous for. It was really cool and the guys were so skilled. They also used their fine paintbrushes to paint animals on our fingernails with watercolour paint and then protected it with a layer of clear nail varnish, it was pretty amazing. We then went to the City Palace which is one of the oldest and most spectacular in India, it was very beautiful. Next we went to Sahilio Ka something gardens which was like an oasis in the desert. There were lots of water features and tropical plants so it was like being in a rainforest which is completely different to the arid dusty surroundings. We then had lunch at a place CP (the tour leader) recommended and it was fowl (at least for me). It was all vegetarian and we got given a massive platter with about 8 holes in it and then some guy came round and slopped a bit of each thing in each hole erghh it was gross. At 6pm we went for a boat ride around lake palace and saw the sunset. We got off at a little island in the lake that was made into a beautiful holiday island with a nice restaurant and bar and spa and hotel. After the boat ride we walked through town and along the lakeside to a nice waterfront restaurant for dinner, the location was amazing and so was the food. It was pricey by Indian standards but you can't argue with £4 for a 3 course meal and drinks. It was so nice. BYE.x
