Day 24 Udaipur
Everyone arranged that today we would go to a cafe in the centre of town for breakfast and it was really nice, I had something called rosti rounds which were like hash browns. At 10am we walked around the corner to the painting class which we booked the day before when we went to the demonstration. It was really great, it was so well done. First the guys asked us what animal we wanted to do and then split us into groups. They then drew the outlines of the animals for us to copy. We were given a really fine brush which we then used to paint around the outline. Next we painted in the big blocks of colours, then we did the details of the elephant, then we went around defining the lines and lastly we added the decoration. It was done step by step and if you'd said at the beginning that our paintings would come out as they did then we would never have believed it but they were all amazing thanks to the expert guidance of the painters. We all ended up with a picture we had painted that could almost rival theirs but the painting class was about 1/4 of what their cheapest paintings were worth so it was really good value for money. We finished the class at 1.30pm and then went shopping as India is the best place for this! The shops were lovely. Marieloes and I then went back to the waterfront restaurant that we had been to the night before and had pancakes and some drinks. In the evening we signed up for a cooking class which was recommended by the lonely planet. All of us expected that we would have our own hobs at least but instead we sat round like a school class with recipe handouts watching the guy cook and talk, he got people up to 'do' the cooking but he had everything measured out already and just poured it in while they stirred. I wasn't impressed and neither was my roomie. The guy curdled the sauce too and when someone asked him if it was he said it was meant to be like that but I don't think so especially as someone ordered it at a restaurant the next day and it wasn't anything like what he'd done. So, we were disappointed and went home to eat some biscuits. BYE.x
